Happy Sunday, lovelies! I’m excited to finally share with you all of my sketches from NYFW! It’s become a tradition to sketch my favorite looks each season and after attending the shows and some fashion week events, I was full to the brim with inspiration and couldn’t wait to get sketching!
Day one of NYFW week, I met up with my friend Jess for coffee and then we both attended the Pamella Roland show together. One of my favorite looks was a gold and black glittery ombre gown and I knew when I saw it, I just had to sketch! You can see it in action in my NYFW video recap in my previous blog post. After the show I raced across town to host a Valentine’s Day Pop-Up Shop at the J.Crew Fifth avenue store. There were yummy treats and Shirley Temples (haven’t had one of those in years!) and it was so great meeting new people and seeing some friendly faces! =)
On day 2, I was invited by Nexxus to stop by their gorgeous salon in Tribeca for a complimentary styling session. My stylist Amanda, gave me the most amazing volume! My hair is really fine, flat and wispy so anyone who can give it body is officially a magician =) After that, I met up with my friend Kristin and we stopped by Raul Penaranda’s fashion presentation at the Baccarat hotel. Raul and I used to work together a loooong time ago and I always love seeing his latest creations. This season, he shared the entire process from getting ready backstage to the final finished photoshoot. His collection was Great Gatsby inspired (right up my alley!)
After Raul’s presentation we ended up almost literally bumping into Linda Fargo on our way to the elevator. She looked fabulous of course and we had some time to kill before the next show so we decided to get a quick bite to eat and then head to Bergdorf’s for some window shopping. After that it was time for the Sherri Hill show to get my seasonal dose of glittery gowns!
On day 3 I stopped by the Maybelline Master Class at Sumsung downtown to get some makeup tips from beauty bloggers @katy and @desiperkins before heading to the Christian Cowan show. The third day was kinda miserable because NYC was rainy and gross, but I persevered and the show was totally worth it!
Fashion week is fun but it’s always super crazy and chaotic and as much as I love the energy, I also love catching the shows live streaming online and sketching in my jammies (LOL!) I was really loving Carolina Herrera, Prabal Gurung, Oscar de la Renta, Milly, Ulla Johnson, and Tanya Taylor this season…
Did you have a favorite show from NYFW? Which sketch is your favorite? I’ll be sketching a few looks from the London, Milan, and Paris shows as fashion month continues. Be sure to follow along on Instagram and Insta Stories to catch my work in progress clips!
Thanks so much for following along and I hope you have a fabulous Sunday!!
xoxo,
~Joanna <3
