I recently added this bookcase to my studio space for extra storage and to create an additional working surface for my Cricut machine. But as I was putting the bookcases together, I knew that I’d eventually add one of my wallpaper designs to the back of the shelves for extra charm. I placed an order for my Rose Trellis pattern in the Peel & Stick wallpaper option from Spoonflower this is the pistachio and blue combo in the larger scale and got to work.

First I took everything out of the bookcase, removed the shelves (this is a Billy bookcase from Ikea by the way), and took out the back shelf pegs so they wouldn’t get in the way. I love the texture of this peel and stick wallpaper and it was easy to remove from the backing. However it was pretty tricky maneuvering the wallpaper roll into place because the overall width of the wallpaper was much wider than the width of the bookshelf. I had to peel off the back of the entire width across in order to place it properly starting in the upper left corner.

In hind sight it would have been MUCH easier to cut it down to the exact height and width first. I had to trim off the excess with an Xacto knife as I went so I could finish it off in the bottom right corner. But once the excess was trimmed, it was easy to reposition and smooth out. I put everything back together and now I have a happy little print to look at every morning when I come into the studio! Adding a pop of pattern definitely adds some personality and makes the space feel more cheerful. I’m even considering wallpapering the larger bookcase next!

xoxo,
