Happy April!! This past week has been super exciting for more reasons than one and I’m so happy to be able to share it all with you. If you follow me on Instagram, you may know that a week ago today, I turned twenty-nine. That’s right, it’s the last official year of my twenties and I can’t believe I’m that much closer to thirty!! Yikes. According to my eight year old self, I should be married by now, have a house in the country and a horse in the backyard. Thankfully I can check at least one of those things off that list =) I had a moment last week where the realization of “thirty” caught me off guard. I gave it about five seconds of thought and then moved on… there’s too much to do to be worried about that one!
I had a great birthday and was lucky enough to soak up the morning sunshine while strolling through the floral district, get a glittered mani-pedi, meet with a client downtown, try my first ever doughnut from Dough (heaven), do a little window shopping, have birthday drinks at The Winslow and devour yummy birthday cake from Milk Bar. Life’s biggest moments are so much better when shared with friends!
There is some exciting shop news to be revealed shortly but in the meantime, I wanted to share a couple of Instagram mentions…
Copic markers are my go-to for all my illustrations and last night, Copic featured my floral eiffel tower illustration on their Instagram! My collection of Copics is one of my most prized possessions so I was excited to get mentioned on their feed. It’s about time I go to the art store and stock up on my favorites!
This morning I woke up to an Instagram mention from Bergdorf Goodman… the holy grail of fashion… who featured my Christian Louboutin shoe sketch on their Instagram account. So exciting!! I visited BG on Saturday and pretty much drooled over these amazing beauties… I knew they just had to be sketched =)
All the wonderful comments and support I’ve gotten on social media over the past couple of weeks have been amazing. Sometimes it’s hard to put work out there and wonder what happens to it…does anyone see it? Does it just sort of float off into the Instagram stratosphere? You are all so kind and those encouraging comments help get me through the inevitable times of doubt. Thank you so much, dear readers, and if you’d like to catch glimpses of my works in process, be sure to follow me on Instagram! xoxo
How fabulous are these leopard booties? Whenever I see an amazingly unattainable pair of shoes (sky high, super chic, crazy expensive, alter ego-esque), I covet them not for the purpose of wanting to actually wear them, but just to have them and look at them. I want to collect them and admire them all in a row… sort of like Jenna Lyons… shiny ponies she calls them. I totally relate.
Since these are waaaay too expensive to buy and just leave on a shelf, it was much more affordable to turn them into a print. Now available in the shop =)
Lucky magazine editor-in-chief Eva Chen had to be the most adorable mom-to-be hitting the streets at NYFW. If you already follow her on Instagram, you’re probably familiar with the daily shoe in cab posts… how clever and fun! When I saw this look pop up on my Instagram feed, she was so chic with her cute baby bump, I just had to sketch! And since she’s a such a shopaholic, I thought a Bergdorf bag couldn’t hurt =)
Hope you’re having a great week! Can’t believe we’re nearly half way through fashion month already, more sketches to come from last week’s shows…
After winning the Christian Louboutin & Bergdorf Goodman design contest awhile back, I faithfully receive a glossy copy of the Bergdorf Goodman magazine in my mailbox each season. It always seems to arrive when I’m having a particularly lousy day for some reason… which works out magically as it is always able to cheer me right up!
After leafing through the pages upon pages of beautiful fall things, I went online to *pretend* window shop and found some killer stilettos. These things are like art. I can’t get enough of them… and I’m not a super high heel kind of girl but I just love them. Especially these lace up ones with geometric cut outs…
